Allow location access
Which location permission CLAYM needs, why, and how to set it on iPhone and Android.
The app is in German for now, so button names are quoted in German with the English meaning in brackets.
Why CLAYM needs your location
Without your location we can’t count any streets for you. CLAYM only uses it during a running tour and to centre the map on you. So that a tour keeps recording while the screen is locked, the app also needs location access in the background.
The precise location matters too. With an approximate location, streets can’t be recognised.
How to set it
- Open your iPhone’s Settings and tap CLAYM.
- Tap Location and choose “Always” or “While Using the App”.
- Turn on “Precise Location”.
- Press and hold the CLAYM icon and tap App info.
- Tap Permissions, then Location.
- Choose “Allow all the time” or “Allow only while using the app”.
- Turn on “Use precise location”.
Hints in the app
If something is missing, CLAYM shows a hint on the map, for example “Nur ungefährer Standort freigegeben” (only approximate location allowed) or “Standort am Handy ausgeschaltet” (location turned off). Tapping it takes you to the right setting.
